*Unless you are vegan, lactose intolerant or don’t like cheese. Otherwise: keep reading!
I don’t even remember when or how I stumbled upon this, but my life has never been the same ever since. Ok, that is maybe a bit exaggerated but this appetizer is now a regular for every dinner party we host, and it is really, really simple.
Ingredients
- A round Camembert cheese
- Some fresh or dried parsley
- Bread (toast bread preferably)
- Olive oil
- Some tin foil
How to prepare
Preheat the oven at 180 degrees (Celsius). First, take the Camembert out of the package and place some tin foil in the basket. Then put the Camembert on top again. This will make sure the heat is contained. Carve the Camembert’s skin on top, both horizontally and vertically, creating a nice XX shaped pattern. Make sure not to cut all the way through – we don’t want the cheese to leak.
Cut the bread in pieces of 3 cm thick and around 6-8 cm longs (or as you prefer). You need them to dip later. Spread them on an oven plate, and sprinkle some olive oil on them. You an also put some dried herbs on them here.
Put the cheese in the middle of the oven plate, surrounded by the bread. Then place in the preheated oven for about 10 mins. The bread will be crunchy brown and the cheese nice and gooey. Sprinkle some dried or fresh parsley on top and serve immediately. Bon appétit!
