Moin! Willkommen bei eine neue update… Yeah I wish I could continue that in German, but I’m not quite there yet! I just wanted to give you guys a quick update on how it is going here!
Ok so I’ve been living and loving it here for the past 2 months now. It’s been hectic and calming at the same time – since there was quite some administration and job-hunting to be done, but it also gave me the luxury to rethink what I love doing in life and where I want to go.
Job wise
Job wise I can be short: I am still looking for a new challenge. I’m not the type to apply for 3 openings at the same time: I am focused and dedicated to one position at a time. A bit like a relationship, I guess 😉 For one job, I managed to get to the final round but then didn’t end up being “the chosen one”. Too bad, but shit happens. Dust yourself off and try again.
Network wise
The people who know me personally, know I’m a social person. I can be on my own for a while, but I prefer social interactions. Sitting at home all day makes me nervous. So I joined a WhatsApp group with English speaking people in Hamburg, and even found and electrician in there to hang our lamps! It’s a nice, helping community and I’m happy I joined!
Administration wise
Pfoee, it has been challenging! I have been busy registrating here, getting a bank account, setting up health insurance, getting a german phone number, having my car checked and getting German license plates. We now need to open another bank account because the one we joined doesn’t offer EC cards, and apparently you need that for a lot of places…
House and decorating wise
Guys, I have been so excited to decorate this house! If only I had an unlimited budget… But it is also nice to find nice budget items, of course. Vittorio has been a good boy assembling all the IKEA furniture without complaining too much (he had hell of an assistant of course) and after he did that, I filled our closets, bookshelf and cabinets with all our stuff.
Now I am busy with the final touches – I ordered some nice art and made a photowall of our pictures that should be delivered this week! I really wanted to wait to give you a full house tour then, but ok, I will give you a sneak peek of the living room!
So above the couch and dining table, there will be some pics/art soon, I will share a full house update when all is in place!
